Christian Clinger

Christian W. Clinger is a founding member of the Institute of Advanced Mediation & Problem Solving, LLC. Christian is a recognized attorney and mediator throughout Utah and the intermountain west. Christian has practiced law in Nebraska, worked as a law clerk and staff attorney at the Third District Court, State of Utah, and has worked as an attorney with the law firm Callister Nebeker & McCullough in Utah. Christian is also a founding member of the law firm Clinger Lee Clinger, LLC. Christian draws on his numerous experiences negotiating business deals and contracts, litigating lawsuits, public policy and governmental relations, to the field of mediation and problem solving.

Christian is actively involved in the community giving his time through leadership, lectures, service projects, and fundraising. In 2004, Christian received the “Heart and Hands Award” from the Utah Nonprofits Association for his efforts and fundraising with “And Justice for All” which provides funding to community legal aid organizations throughout Utah. That same year, he served as a committee member for the 50th Anniversary of “Brown vs. Board of Education” and as the chair of “Jackie Robinson Appreciation Weekend” with the former Salt Lake Stingers Triple -A baseball team. The Utah State Bar named Christian its Section Leader of the Year in 2004, and its Young Lawyer of the Year in 2005. In 2006, Christian was elected to the Utah State Bar Board of Bar Commissioners. In 2009, he was re-elected as a Bar Commissioner and sworn into office by Utah Supreme Court Chief Justice Christine Durham. In 2010, Christian was elected to serve a third one-year term as a member of the Executive Committee of the Utah State Bar Board of Bar Commissioners. The Utah State Bar Board of Bar Commissioners is the governing entity and policy making body of the Utah State Bar.

Since 2006, Christian has been named amongst “Utah’s Legal Elite” by Utah Business Magazine in three separate categories: Mediation/Alternative Dispute Resolution (2011), Rising Star in the Legal Profession (2010), and Corporate Law (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009). In 2008 and 2009, Super Lawyer magazine named Christian as a “Rising Star” in the legal community for all of Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Utah. During the past six years, Christian has been an active member of ChamberWest, one of Utah’s largest Chambers of Commerce. He served two terms as a member of the Board of Directors for ChamberWest from 2004-2008, and he serves as its General Counsel. In 2009, ChamberWest awarded Christian its “Volunteer of the Year Award.”

Christian has nearly 20 years of experience in governmental relations and political consulting advising candidates, organizations, businesses, and constituents from coast to coast. His governmental relations and political consulting practice includes serving on Utah Governor Jon M. Huntsman’s 2004 and 2008 campaign committees as well as Governor Huntsman’s 2004 inauguration committee and 2008 Governor’s Gala. He managed Utah Senator Carlene Walker’s successful 2004 re-election campaign and served on U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch’s 2006 re-election campaign committee. In 2010, Christian was a campaign consultant to Utah Representative Derek Brown’s successful election to the Utah House of Representatives. Since 2004, he has served as a member of the Utah State Bar’s Governmental Relations Committee.

Christian is a prominent mediator assisting local, national, and international clients. Christian mediates a broad range of cases including contract and business matters, divorce and custody conflicts, probate disputes, landlord/tenant issues, real property disputes, malpractice/personal injury, and workplace conflicts. Christian’s business mediations have included Fortune 500 companies as well as international corporations. In 2009, Christian was a speaker at Governor Huntsman’s Utah Economic Summit teaching business leaders about the benefits of mediation. He also lectures and conducts mediation training throughout Utah. Under the direction of Utah Dispute Resolution, he is the former Mediation Coordinator at the Bountiful Small Claims Court (2007-2010) and the former ¬†Mediation Coordinator of Small Claims Appeals at the Second District Court, Farmington department (2007 to 2011). Christian is an active member of the Utah State Bar Dispute Resolution Section, the American Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, ¬†and the Utah Council on Conflict Resolution. In 2008, Christian was elected to the Board of Trustees for the Utah Council on Conflict Resolution. He served as the co-chair of the Utah Council on Conflict Resolution Symposium in 2008 and 2010, and in May 2009, he served as the Symposium’s chair.
